Google to launch Street View feature for Canada
Google Street View feature is very popular on their Google Maps service. The service lets a web user check out streets in a city through their web browsers.
The company now aims to launch the service for Canadian cities though they would have to comply with the tougher Canadian privacy laws.
Google would be required to blur people’s faces and vehicle license plates on the photos presented through this service to make sure they do not break any laws.
Peter Fleischer, Google’s global privacy counsel spoke on this issue: “We are thinking about launching it outside the United States, including Canada, and we’re looking at how it would have to be different in Canada compared to its U.S. Version.”
They work in collaboration with Canadian firm Immersive Media Corp which has already apparently started working on content from the Canadian streets.
