Buy a OLPC laptop gift one to the kids in underdeveloped nations
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) has announced that they are all set to start the production of their USD 100 laptop for commercial sale purposes.
They would sell this laptop to public in a buy-one, give-one scheme. This means that the notebook would be sold at around twice the price and the user would get one machine. The other machine would be donated to the kids in underdeveloped countries.
This initiative is expected to give the much desired publicity to the project as regular people would be able to buy the device for their own use.
Since the machine would be sold in the markets, it would make it more interesting for the software developers to code applications for it. This would further benefit the whole project.
They would make available the laptop available under this scheme for 399 dollars in the US and Canadian markets.
