Sharp to launch Blu-Ray recorders with 1 TB storage space

Japanese consumer electronics maker Sharp has announced their plans to launch a Blu-ray high-definition DVD recorder which would ship with 1TB storage space.

This would be the maximum amount of storage capacity being shipped with a video recorder.

The company claimed that this recorder would be capable of recording 127 hours of digital high-definition programs.

It would go on sale in the Japanese market this coming December. It would retail for around 300,000 yen. This comes to around USD 2600.

In addition to this high end model Sharp is also working on launching eight other new Blu-ray recorder models by the end of the year.

Blu-Ray format is competing with HD DVD format to become the standard for next generation storage requirement.
