Intel to supply mobile WiMax chips to Nokia
Intel is the world’s largest maker of microprocessors. Nokia is the world’s largest mobile phone maker.
The two companies have now announced that Intel would be supplying mobile WiMax chips to Nokia for their future mobile devices.
Nokia is aiming to roll out their WiMax enabled mobile devices starting next year. Texas Instruments is currently the Nokia’s largest chip supplier.
Some other companies providing mobile chips to Nokia are STMicroelectronics, Broadcom and Infineon.
Incidentally, Nokia currently has no mobile device which is using Intel chips inside them. This deal could benefit both the companies which are pioneers of their fields.
