Palm launches Centro smartphone

Palm has just launched their Centro smartphone. This is perhaps the smallest smartphone from the company yet.

It is expected to retail for around USD 100 as they are now targeting people who need a cheaper alternative for their mobile needs.

This new device would be initially available exclusively through Sprint Nextel this year. Their regular range consists of the Treo smartphones which are bigger in size and are more expensive.

Ed Colligan, president and chief executive officer of Palm added in a statement on Palm Centro: “Palm Centro has the power of a broadband smartphone at the price of a standard 12-key phone.”

The device features a touch screen interface and can manage photos, music, email and web surfing.

Customers can sign up to be notified of availability from Sprint at www.sprint.com/centro.
