Walt Disney to close down their mobile service in USA
Walt Disney has announced that they are now going to close down their mobile phone service in the US market by the end of the current year.
They are the latest player in the market to exit this field which has some high prolific players with a lot more resources.
The company added that they would continue to serve and support current customers of the service until that time.
Disney Internet Group President Steve Wadsworth admitted that the US mobile market is a tough field to enter and stay profitable.
Incidentally, they closed down their Mobile ESPN last year. That closure resulted in a $30 million charge for the company.
Disney’s mobile service was aimed at kids and gave parents control on the usage on the phones provided to them.
