Microsoft Office Live Workspace to take on Google Docs service
Microsoft has launched their Office Live Workspace service which has been designed to provide a challenge to Google Docs service.
Office Live Workspace would enable MS Office users to access documents from anywhere. The service provides them the ability to save more than 1,000 Microsoft Office documents online and access them via the Web.
Jeff Raikes, president of the Microsoft Business Division said in a statement: “This new era of connected computing is about empowering people and businesses to balance the power of the Internet with the rich interactivity and high performance of client and server software.”
The service has also been designed to enable the user to share files with other people online. They would be able to work collaboratively on a project in a password-protected, invitation-only online workspace.

Although this is an interesting announcement, it sounds like file storage with just minor collaboration capabilities. I’ll check it out, but I’ve been using eXpresso for real time collaboration of Excel spreadsheets online. It has a lot of cool features including the ability to compare two spreadsheets side by side and a very detailed audit trail. Check it out at http://www.expressocorp.com.
