HTC Shift UMPC to be launched in United Kingdom
Hi-Tech Computer is the world’s largest maker of Windows Mobile smartphones. The company has now announced that they are now launching their Shift UMPC (ultra-mobile PC) in the UK market.
The HTC Shift is based on the Windows Vista platform and comes with a 7′ widescreen display. This display is touch sensitive and would also tilt and slide to reveal the hidden keyboard.
It would support 3G networks in addition to HSDPA technology. HTA claims that the device weighs just around 800 grams.
UMPC market has not taken off despite massive efforts taken by both Microsoft and hardware manufacturers. Knowing HTC, they can definitely pull this one off. Their Touch smartphone has been a major success worldwide and it would be interesting to see how customers react to this new product.
Peter Chou, chief executive officer of HTC spoke on this new exciting product launch: “The HTC Touch Dual expands the HTC Touch product family and integrates 3.5G connectivity and a sliding keyboard into a slim and stylish design. This combination provides customers with the most uncompromising and intuitive touch experience available on a phone.”
