Microsoft Zune range updated with 3 new models
Microsoft has finally updated their Zune range of digital media players as they work hard on competing against Apple iPod range of players.
Microsoft is not technically replacing their existing Zune player as the three new models are available in different capacities.
These three models are available in capacities of 4GB, 8GB (Flash) and 80GB (Hard Disk). With this, the company finally has a challenger to iPod nano.
Zune 4 GB model would be sold for USD149. The 8 GB edition would go for USD 199. The 80 GB edition would be available for USD 249.
Incidentally these prices matches the similar capacity Apple iPods.
Market analysts are however not impressed as the company currently has no match for the recently launched iPod Touch media players. However, Microsoft would however eat into the market share of other companies in this segment of the market. Some of whom are incidentally their partners.
Update:
Two key features:
Additional native video codecs for h.264 and MPEG-4
Zune can now be updated over Wi-Fi!
Great news for existing Zune owners
They would get all the software based features of the new Zunes!
