European Commission: Eurotariff has reduced mobile bills massively
European Commission has said in a statement that the reduced roaming charge has enabled them to help mobile customers by lowering the phone bills by as much as 60%.
The EU forced the mobile companies to charge low roaming charges while the customer were traveling within the region.
They had set a price ceiling of 0.49 Euros per minute. The incoming call charge was reduced to 0.24 Euros per minute.
They had claimed that the mobile companies were making huge profits by charging from their customers obscene fees for roaming within the EU region.
The EU statement said: “By Aug. 30, around 200 million EU consumers had already switched to the Eurotariff.”
Mobile companies however continues to say that this would reduce their revenues which would mean that charges on other services would have to be raised.
