USD 499 Macintosh Confirmed
As rumored and reported by Mac Spy Magazines and websites, it is now confirmed that Apple would in fact be producing a cheap variant of Macintosh computer for around USD 499. However, it would be shipping without a monitor or keyboard to keep the costings low.
Consumers would now be able to choose their own accessories or use existing devices to get their own Apple Macs running at low costs. This could potentially bring in many new customers to Apple, which in recent times appears more as an entertainment device company with their iPod and iTunes.
CEO of Apple Computers Steve Jobs expressed hopes that this move would let many PC users who always wanted to own an iMac to fulfill their desire. Hence, Apple get more switchers to their platform which has till now been an expensive deal for the Apple fans.
In other news, Jobs told the media personals that they sold almost 4.5 million iPods in the recent holiday season!
