Broadcom announces BCM2727 HD mobile multimedia processor
Broadcom Corp. has announced a new low power consuming multimedia processor which would enable mobile customers access to HD media.
The company said that the chip is powerful enough to support high-definition video playback, 3D gaming and 12-megapixel camera capabilities.
And these capabilities comes with no major strain on the battery consumption in the mobile devices.
This BCM2727 processor is powered with their VideoCore III multimedia architecture. Broadcom added that it would allow mobile users to encode and decode high-definition video in 720p mode, with 720 lines progressively scanned.
Market analysts say that the company has now become the first mobile chip maker to provide a chip to deliver high-definition images on cell phones.
