Seagate launches Momentus 5400 PSD 2.5-inch hard drives
Storage industry giant Seagate has announced their first notebook hard drives which comes loaded with large cache of NAND flash memory.
This new range is the Momentus 5400 PSD 2.5-inch hard drives which comes loaded with 256 MB of Flash memory.
These are to be made available in capacities of 80, 120, and 160 GB initially.
Seagate added that these new disks would be shipped to the retail market starting this week.
They would cost around 25% more compared to traditional hard disks available in the market.
The company added that these disks would make use of Microsoft Windows Vista’s Superfetch and ReadyDrive technologies.
Seagate added that Momentus drives would reduce Windows Vista start up time by about 20 percent. Power consumption is expected to go down by around 40%.
