.asia domain launched

People wanting to buy a domain for their Asian specific businesses would soon be able to get access to .asia domain names.

The launch of .asia comes after .eu was released for European Union countries.

Edmon Chung from DotAsia said in a statement: “The .asia domain acts like a channel or a portal, showing your commitment to the Asia market as a whole. It provides an easier way to direct customers to your products. Our research has found that ‘Asia’ is one of the most searched-for terms and by having a .asia website, your ranking on Google or Yahoo will become much higher.”

DotAsia is the Hong Kong-based group which has won the right to set-up the domain.

He added that the domain names would be charged from around USD 10 to several hundred dollars.

Currently, only those people can apply who want to book domains related to trademarks. General public would be able to get .asia domains starting February next year.
