Italy now auctioning WiMax licenses
Italian government has now announced that they are auctioning WiMax technology licenses.
The Italian Communications ministry said that they are going to offer three licenses for available frequencies within the 3.4-3.6Ghz spectrum.
These licenses would last for a period of 15 years. They cannot be sold to another party without the government authorization.
Some of the interested parties in the bidding process include Tiscali and Fastweb. Telecom Italia could also be involved in the bidding.
WiMax is the next generation wireless broadband technology which is increasingly being adopted by mobile and telecom companies around the world.
