Windows Live Events takes on Evite.com and similar services
Microsoft has launched yet another web based service in the form of Windows Live Events.
This is aimed at rival services including Evite.com and others. Facebook also provides a facility similar to this service.
Microsoft said that this new service is free and would enable the members to send online invitations that direct recipients to a related Web page.
Market analyst Roger Kay had this to say on this new Microsoft Live service: “The issue is that everybody would like to be the page of record – the place where you go to do things, and as a result there are a lot of competing venues like that.”
Jay Fluegel, Windows Live Events product manager had this to say at the launch: “Our goal with Windows Live is just to offer an integrated suite of services. In many cases, because of the number of Hotmail, Spaces and Messenger users we have, people have stored a lot of their contacts and relationships with us. That makes it easy when it comes to invitation scenarios and other entry points within Windows Live.”
The service is supported through online advertisements.
