Mac friendly BBC iPlayer coming soon

BBC has said in a statement that they are now going to release a Mac friendly version of their iPlayer early next year.

BBC iPlayer uses proprietary Microsoft technology which limit its usage to Windows platform only.

The BBC management has also decided that they would in the near future allow users to watch shows on-the-go for free in coffee shops and airports across the UK.

BBC has also now launched a Facebook application for their player which would enable the members to embed their favorite BBC videos.

The company further announced their plans to collaborate with Telegraph.co.uk.

BBC said that they are collaborating with Adobe to use their technology to develop the next version of the iPlayer which would be compatible with other platforms as well.

A Flash technology based player would mean that Linux users would also be able to check out BBC videos online.
