NASA: Space Shuttle launch currently on track
NASA’s senior managers have said that they have cleared the space shuttle Discovery for its scheduled liftoff Tuesday.
With this they have overruled the fears of a safety group who asked for more repairs on the Space Shuttle body before any future launch.
Shuttle program manager Wayne Hale said in a statement: “There was a great deal of evidence presented today and the preponderance of evidence in my mind says that we have an acceptable risk to go fly. And let me make sure you understand that. I didn’t say it’s safe to go fly and I wouldn’t say that. We have an acceptable risk to go fly.”
He further said: “It appears that there is good analysis that says we could survive even if the worst thing happens to us during entry.”
