MySpace and Skype partners for VoIP services
Internet’s most popular social networking service MySpace.com has announced that they are now partnering with Skype.
Their partnership is aimed at providing free VoIP service to the members of MySpace.com.
Their deal could further put more pressure on the traditional telephony companies in the markets where MySpace.com is popular.
The deal between MySpace and Skype would see them providing Skype telephony service through the instant messaging tools which are already available through user profile pages.
Chris DeWolfe, the MySpace co-founder and chief executive spoke on this partnership: “Skype has … an enormous international user base that we’re thrilled to connect with our existing community.”
Michael Van Swaaij, Skype chief executive added: “Strategically it’s a very good match. We’re both obviously like to get more users.”
