Recording Industry Association of America now targeting Usenet
The RIAA has become infamous for their lawsuits in the US market targeting web users who share or download pirated media from the internet.
They are now targeting Usenet services with the similar aim of hitting the sources where such media is easily accessible.
Usenet is however not a centralized system but is spread over a collection of computer servers.
This means that it would be basically impossible for them to practically control this mechanism of file sharing. Pretty similar to torrent networks.
For now they are targeting one specific provider, Usenet.com. They have filed a lawsuit against this company claiming that it enable their members to share music files.
