Latest Windows OS worm pretends as a Tetris game
The latest worm reported to be affecting computers running Windows Operating System comes pretending as the very popular Tetris game. Users get to play the game while listening to accompanied music while the worm spreads on the computer and look for other vulnerable systems on the network. Security firms have however clarified that the worm attack is limited, as not many users have reported being affected by it.
It uses local networks to spread to other computers instead of the much popular method of email attachments. This also limits the spread of the worm. Initial reports say that the worm does not cause any damage to the user’s system. However, networks with high density of infected systems can see slowdowns due to excess traffic the worm generates.
Anti-Virus firm Sophos has reported that all the major versions of Windows OS are affected by this particular worm and users should update their antivirus software definition files to catch this menace. A spokesperson from the company told the media: “If your company has a culture of allowing games to be played in the office, your staff may believe this is simply a new game that has been installed – rather than something that should cause concernâ€.
