YouTube opens Taiwan edition of the service
After the Chinese edition, YouTube has now opened its second Chinese-language Web site for their visitors from Taiwan.
Market sources however say that the service did not exactly need a Taiwanese edition as the English edition is already quite popular in the country.
Taiwanese Government Information Office Minister, Shieh Jhy-wei was recently quoted in the media asking the people to use the service to protest against China for trying to block their entry into the United Nations.
The government also encourages the people to use these services to promote the country on the web.
YouTube’s Taiwanese website is their 11th localized site. They have other versions for China, Hong Kong, Japan, France, Brazil, Spain and Hungary. And Indian edition is said to be in works.
