Trans Pacific Express now under construction
China has confirmed that they have now begun the construction of the fiber optic cable to the United States.
The project would cost around USD 500 million and would speed up the internet connectivity between the two nations.
It would also connect China to other countries including South Korea, Taiwan.
The Chinese government said that the work on the Trans Pacific Express project started in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao on Monday
They expect to complete the work by July next year. Some of the companies investing in the project include Verizon Communications, China Telecom, China Netcom and China Unicom along with Korea Telecom and Chunghwa Telecom.
