Vonage VoIP system claimed to be hackable
If the legal problems were not enough, the latest news is that security experts have claimed that Vonage’s VoIP system is not very secure at the moment.
Sipera Systems has claimed that a hacker with access to Vonage’s subscriber’s name and telephone number can intercept calls made using the system.
This can be done by exploiting a weakness in the Vonage’s system.
Vonage has for the time being declined to comment on this reported security issue. Sipera Systems has now said that they alerted the company of this problem more than a month ago.
Krishna Kurapati, founder and chief technology officer of Sipera said in a statement on their findings: “This guy could be in Russia and Vonage thinks it’s John Smith. People think they’re calling John Smith and instead they get this guy.”
