Intel to pay Transmeta USD 250 million

Microprocessor industry giant Intel has revealed that they would be paying $250 million over five years to Transmeta.

This deal is part of their settlement of a patent infringement related lawsuit related to chip designs and power management technology.

Intel would now be able to incorporate Transmeta technologies in its chips for 10 years.

The deal between the two companies is however non-exclusive. It would now end the legal battles between Intel and Transmeta.

The two companies revealed that Intel would pay up a one-time fee of $150 million. Rest of the money would be delivered over a period of five years.

Incidentally, Intel rival company AMD is an investor in Transmeta.
