Qualcomm announces a new multimode chip Gobi for notebooks

Wireless technology developers Qualcomm has announced their latest product. This new product is a new multimode chip and they are also supplying accompanied software.

Qualcomm claims that this new chip would enable manufacturers to provide advanced wireless technologies in their next generation of mobile devices.

They have named this new chip Gobi and it would support both 3G and legacy 2G cellular networks.

Qualcomm COO Sanjay K. Jha spoke about Gobi: “Gobi-enabled notebook computers with global mobile Internet unify the most important wireless carrier network technologies deployed around the world.”

Verizon Wireless and Vodaphone are two mobile service providers who have confirmed their support for this new technology.
