China to use TD-SCDMA technology during Olympics
China has said that they would be using their own home grown mobile networking technology named TD-SCDMA during the upcoming Olympics.
A media source stated: “China’s top economic planner says the country will use its homegrown 3G service at the Beijing Olympics next year.”
China’s National Development and Reform Commission stated that they would expand the trial of the technology to include the upcoming Olympics.
There is however no update on when the government plans to issue licenses for 3G services in the Chinese telecom market.
It is also not clear whether competing 3G technologies would be allowed in the country by the time Olympics start.
