Intel and others start work on promoting USB 3.0
Microprocessor company Intel has announced that they are teaming up with other companies to promote the USB 3.0 standard.
They claim that this next edition of USB technology would deliver ten times the speed of the existing USB 2.0 standard.
The USB 3.0 technology would support transfer data at speeds up to 4.8Gbit/s. It would also be backward compatible with the existing USB 1 and USB 2 standards.
Intel further stated that they are going to concentrate on low power and improved protocol efficiency for the specification of USB 3.0 standard.
