Hyundai Elantra to be phased out from India
Hyundai India has said that they are now planning to stop the production and marketing of their Elantra luxury sedan which has failed to generate much sales in the market.
The company recently phased out their imported sports utility vehicle (SUV) Terracan.
Incidentally, Hyundai managed to sell only 14 units of Elantra in the last three months in the market and it makes no sense for them to continue offer this model.
Even more shocking is the fact that these sold cars were manufactured last year as they have felt no need to make more in this year.
Elantra is placed in one of the most competitive segment of the Indian automobile market with other models including Chevrolet Optra, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia.
Hyundai is also facing problems selling their Accent car in the market with Verna taking its place.
The company is currently scheduled to launch their Pa model in the market next month. This is expected to be a big seller for the company.
