Apple has a waiting list for iPod Shuffle
Apple recently entered the budget segment of the digital music player market with iPod Shuffle. They launched the chewing gum packet sized player in two capacities. The smaller one has 512 Megs storage and can hold around 120 songs, while the bigger model has double the capacities. These have been priced at a modest USD 99 and USD 149 respectively.
Critics slammed these music players considering they lacked a User Interface to browse the list of songs. In addition, it lacked features like a FM player and Voice Recording, which has now become a norm for these gadgets. However, Apple fans see nothing of this as the company just announced that due to high demand and limited initial supplies, customers face a waiting period of two to four weeks before their order is shipped.
The original blockbuster from Apple iPod also faced similar shortage in the initial days, as consumers had to wait for 6 weeks before they got their hands on the hip music player, which has been dubbed the Walkman of the 21st Century by the media.
Steve Jobs while launching these new players had confirmed that the new music players were on their way from factories to Apple’s online store, retail stores and third-party retailers and distributors. Apparently, demand has outstripped the supplies. It still goes on to show that the craze on the Apple iPod has not died down. And with more than 10 million players already sold, iPod Shuffle would only add to the numbers.
