Wal-Mart now offering USD 199 Green gPC
Cheap computers are becoming fashionable these days. Asustek has just announced that they would be bringing their EEE PC in the North American market and now Wal-Mart has announced that they are now selling the USD 199 Green gPC which comes powered with Linux OS.
The company said that these machines are now on sale at 600 Wal-Mart stores. These computing machines are made by Everex of Taiwan.
There is another version of the computer on sale. This one comes loaded with Windows Vista Home Basic. This variant costs $298.
This desktop machine comes with a keyboard, mouse and speakers. Unfortunately, the buyer would have to purchase a monitor separately.
The Linux edition of the gPC comes loaded with a custom Ubuntu edition codenamed gOS.
The machine comes powered with a low-end processor from VIA Technologies. In addition, it features 512 MB RAM and a 80 GB hard disk. Also included in the package is a CD Writer capable of reading DVDs.
