United Nations launches a poverty website with Cisco and Google
United Nations is collaborating with Google and Cisco on a project which has made available a website to provide data related to poverty in the world.
This website would provide a bird’s eye view of global efforts to fight poverty and meet U.N. development goals by 2015.
Millennium Development Goals has been established to provide latest statistics on health, education, malnutrition, women’s equality and other measures.
All these factors are connected to poverty in the world.
Michael Jones, chief technologist for Google Earth and Maps spoke about this project: “They can see successes and celebrate those, and observe failures or shortfalls … and redouble their country’s commitment to pursue those efforts. So it’s very exciting for us.”
