Facebook launches their ad targeting program
Online social networking service Facebook has announced the launched of an advertisement targeting program.
This service would allow interested companies to create their own pages on Facebook. They would then be able to provide targeted ads on the service based on the activities of the members on the service.
This is the latest method being adopted by the networks to enhance the quality of ads displayed on their web pages.
MySpace.com is also working on such an advertising concept enabling companies to generate more targeted advertising.
Market analyst Deborah Pierce had this to say on this new development: “Some people may find it creepy. They are trying to find some ways to monetize this and keep the lights on. If the disclosure is up front, yeah, I think this is a reasonable thing for them to do.”
