OLPC’s USD 100 Laptop now under mass production
Taiwan’s Quanta Computer has finally started mass production of the much talked about USD 100 laptop.
This laptop would however cost around double its originally expected price in the market.
This XO laptop machine is being mass produced at a factory in Changshu, China.
OLPC would be supplying these machines to governments in developing nations to give it to young kids to help in their education.
The project was originally announced in 2005 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Nicholas Negroponte. The foundation has said that they have received confirmed orders from Uruguay and Mongolia.
