YouTube’s copyright trouble in India with T-Series
YouTube is now in trouble in Indian courts in relation to copyright infringement.
Super Cassettes Industries Limited has moved to courts and have now obtained an interim restraint order against YouTube.
This order is against copyright infringement of their music and video content.
This court order now restricts the popular video sharing service from “disseminating or displaying on their Web sites, or infringing in any manner, the copyright of any audio-visual work of which SCIL owns exclusive copyright”.
Amit Sibal, counsel for T-Series said that the court order now requires YouTube and the parent company Google to prevent their users from uploading media files containing T-Series copyrighted content.
These kind of lawsuits are not new for YouTube. They are already involved in several similar lawsuits one of which is from Viacom which is claiming USD 1 billion in damages.
