EMI Group companies files a copyright infringement lawsuit against Michael Robertson
Online music industry executive Michael Robertson has been sued by several EMI labels for copyright infringement.
Incidentally this new lawsuit comes nearly seven years after his former company had to pay more than $100 million to settle a similar case.
The lawsuit has been filed against Robertson and his company MP3tunes LLC. This company operates sites like sideload.com and mp3tunes.com.
Robertson, 40, is chief executive of MP3tunes. He was also the founder of MP3.com which was later acquired by Universal Music Group. MP3.com is currently owned by online media company Cnet Networks.
Robertson had this to say on this new lawsuit: “These guys rush off to court and tell the court that I am terrible and then they end up buying my company. It is really a shame because instead of using these technologies to improve their business they make an enemy of every technology company out there.”
