Google sued by Northeastern University associate professor for patent infringement

The latest lawsuit to be filed against the search engine giant is related to patent infringement.

It has been filed by Northeastern University and a start-up company co founded by an associate professor.

They are claiming that Google infringes on their patented technologies related to databases.

Michael Belanger, president of Jarg Corp. which is part of the team suing Google said in a statement: “This particular patent has to do with the fundamental database architecture, which they use to serve up every single result they serve to you.”

He added: “When a law firm tells us that it’s very likely that the Google architecture is the fundamental architecture on which our company is founded, we have a fiduciary responsibility to our investors to do something.”

Google spokesman Jon Murchinson had this to say in response: “We are aware of the complaint and believe it to be without merit based upon our initial investigation.”
