AOL acquiring question and answer service Yedda

AOL has announced their second acquisition in the recent times. They are now acquiring Yedda Inc, an online provider of questions and answers.

The aim is to take on Yahoo and MSN in this segment of the market which is becoming quite popular with web users.

Yedda is based in Israel and it would now work as a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL. AOL had recently announced their decision to acquire online advertising company Quigo.

The two companies have not disclosed the financial aspects of this deal.

Ron Grant, president and chief operating officer of AOL spoke on this deal: “In the course of our daily lives we often leverage the experience and expertise of friends, colleagues and professionals like doctors and lawyers to get answers to questions we have. Incorporating Yedda’s unique technology into AOL enables us to bring together our traditional search resources and an entire community of people to help users quickly find answers to questions.”
