Apple iPhone launch great for O2

UK based mobile service provider O2 is the exclusive provider of Apple iPhone mobile phone in this country.

Apple iPhone has just been launched in this market and O2 has stated that the device has been the fastest selling mobile handset for them ever.

A company representative said in a statement that they have managed to sell tens of thousands of units since its launch.

O2 further claimed that as many as two thirds of customers buying the iPhone were new customers to O2. This itself is an impressive statistic for the company.

O2 has been criticized by rival players in the segment to have given Apple too much freedom with their deal. The company is said to be paying Apple around 25% of the generated revenues for this exclusive deal.
