Wall Street Journal: Google likely to bid on wireless spectrum
Wall Street Journal has reported that the search engine giant Google is indeed considering bidding big on the upcoming wireless spectrum auction by the Federal Communications Commission.
The report said that the company is likely to bid on the spectrum on its own with no partners.
They could invest $4.6 billion or higher on these bids as they aim to broaden their presence in the mobile segment.
Incidentally, Google is already running a test version of an advanced wireless network at its Mountain View, California headquarters.
These plans could complement their recently announced Google Android project which is going to challenge Microsoft Windows Mobile platform on mobile devices.
