Dell XPS One: Apple iMac challenger launched

Dell has now launched an all-in-one Dell XPS One product which would now compete against similar products from Gateway and Apple.

Apple dominates this segment of the market with their iMac range of personal computer. Gateway recently launched their Gateway One product.

Dell would be shipping this new product to ordering customers after a couple of weeks. But they are already taking in orders.

It is available in configurations priced between $1,499 to $2,400.

Dell said that their XPS One product is a unified, space-saving experience and it comes loaded with components used in laptop products.

Dell has made available four configurations for potential customers. These are: “Essential,” “Music,” “Performance” and “Entertainment”.

This is absurd; if you buy the iMac you can run Windows at native speed if desired (dual boot an old copy of XP you moght have) AND get a much, much superior, more secure, faster, more modern, more pleasant OS (Mac OS X) to use as well. You get more value for your money.

Additionally, you get cool apps like Garageband and iMovie that don’t have decent counterparts in the Windows world.

So, it has a Blu-ray player/burner but a monitor that is NOT Full-HD compliant: 1680×1050. So, what’s the point.

Clearly, it’s a stretch for Dell to even approach mediocrity.

The iMac smokes this dog on every level but the Blu-ray drive. Get an external Blu-ray drive and load up on third party RAM (Apple’s RAM prices are sheer robbery!) and still have money left over for a nice lunch.

Oh, and you won’t have to waste money on ant-virus and anti-spy/mal-ware software. Just think of all the extra time you’ll have for interesting and pleasurable pursuits!

It costs more than the iMac and is still made of plastic. Impressive.

Like others have mentioned install Windows XP under Boot Camp and you have a better AIO PC than the Dell or the Gateway. Who would of that that Apple beats Dell and Gateway in making the better PC.

Seriously, an iMac “challenger”? Not even close.

iMac is more than just a computer, it’s a concept… one that no copycat, be it made by a generic brand or even Dell or Gateway, can ever match…

The best thing these other companies can do is come up with new concepts of their own, if that is possible. What are these guys paying their R&D for anyway?
