GM sure of Volt launch by 2010
US based auto maker General Motors has said that they are still determined to launch their electric car, the Chevrolet Volt, by the end of 2010.
This comes as the critics are saying that the company is unlikely to meet this deadline for the launch of Chevy Volt in the US market.
GM’s Bob Lutz said in a statement: “There is a lot of skepticism within the company about the timeline. People are biting their nails, but those of us in a leadership position have said it has to be done.”
They are aiming to start road testing of this car by next year. Production is expected to begin by the end of 2010.
This product is important for the company as it face serious challenge from Japanese hybrid car makers like Honda and Toyota.
Lutz further said on rivalry with Toyota: “When people think of Toyota, their iconic brand is the Prius. When they think of GM, the iconic brand is, unfortunately, the Hummer. That perception needs to change.”
