Google market share in October in US: 58.5 percent

Market research firm comScore Inc has stated that the search engine giant Google continued its domination in the search engine market in the USA.

Their market share in the month of October was around 58.5 percent. This is up from 57.0 percent in September.

comScore spokesman Andrew Lipsman added in a statement: “They are all growing in the number of search queries but Google is taking a disproportionate share.”

Yahoo had a market share of 22.9 percent of the U.S. market. Microsoft’s share was around 9.7 percent. Ask had 4.7 percent.

Interestingly, Google managed to take away market share from all of these rival companies. Credit Suisse analyst Heath Terry had this to say on Google: “We believe that search is a natural monopoly business and expect that over time Google will continue to gain share until they have effectively reached 100 percent.”
