Tata rolls out one-millionth Indica
Tata Indica might not be the most loved car in its segment but it still sells in big number in the Indian market.
Tata Motors has now rolled out their one-millionth unit of Indica as they now aim to make it a world class car which can take on the best products from the rival companies.
Tata took nine years to achieve this milestone. The company is currently scheduled to launch their much awaited Rs. 1 lakh car sometime next year.
Tata said in a statement that the first Indica was delivered on January 1, 1999. And it took them seven months to reach 1 million units from 0.9 million units.
Tata Motors boss Ratan Tata had this to say on this achievement: “The car manufacturing project had come under severe criticism from industry observers. None believed that people manufacturing trucks could manufacture a fully indigenous car. However, Indica has proved this belief wrong. Now, the challenge is to raise the standards of our cars to any other car being sold in the global market.”
