Blu-ray discs outselling HD DVD discs in Europe
Blu-ray disc association has claimed that they are easily outselling the number of discs sold in the market in the rival HD DVD format in Europe.
The association said that the Blu-ray movie disc sales had topped 1 million units this year. If they include the gaming discs for the Sony Playstation 3 platform, the sales in Europe exceeded 21 million units.
Sony is one of the major company behind the Blu-Ray format and they ship all their Playstation 3 consoles with a Blu-Ray drive.
HD DVD on the other hand is developed by Toshiba and Microsoft offers a HD DVD drive only as an add-on on their Xbox 360 console.
