Debitel to subsidize unlocked iPhone price in Germany
German mobile services reseller Debitel has announced that they are now going to cater to the mobile users in the country who wants to buy an unlocked Apple iPhone.
The company said that they would pay the difference in the price of a locked and unlocked mobile phone.
T-Mobile is the official carrier of the iPhone in the Germany and they have been forced to make available an unlocked edition of the iPhone by the laws of the land.
They are now selling the unlocked iPhone for an inflated price tag of Euro 999. The locked iPhone sell for Euro 399 with a contract.
Debitel would offer these customers packages starting at Euro 40 which would be cheaper than the package being offered by T-Mobile.
Oliver Steil, Debitel’s marketing chief spoke on this offer: “We are happy to offer iPhone buyers the freedom of choice that customers are entitled to expect from a service provider.”
