Verizon Wireless to use Long Term Evolution technology for mobile network
US based mobile service provider Verizon Wireless has announced that they are going to use Long Term Evolution technology for their next generation mobile broadband network.
This is big news as this would see them moving to the GSM camp from CDMA technology based camp.
The company has already announced that they are going to open their networks to third party mobile devices.
Verizon is promising fast speeds for this upcoming mobile network based on 4G technologies. They are planning to support downlink speeds for data as high as 100 Mbps, and uplink speeds as high as 50 Mbps.
Richard Lynch, Verizon Communications’ chief technology officer said in a statement that as per their research studies, LTE is the “best technology with global scale”.
