Peru orders 260,000 OLPC laptops
More good news from the OLPC foundation. They have now received confirmed orders for 260,000 units of the XO Laptop from the Peruvian government.
Nicholas Negroponte, founder of the project revealed this news on Saturday.
In addition, they have also received orders for 50,000 units for Mexico from the Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.
These XO Notebooks are being manufactured by Quanta Computer and are being offered to governments around the world for free distribution to school children.
Uruguay and Mongolia are two countries which have already placed confirmed orders for these machines.
