AT&T mobile network open to third party devices and applications
AT&T has stated that customers of their mobile services are able to run third party devices and applications.
This announcement comes after Verizon announced a similar plan for their customers.
AT&T stated that their network has been open to outside devices and applications for years. They would start publicizing this fact now through their stores.
Michael Coe, an AT&T spokesman added: “By its nature, GSM technology is open. Customers could always use GSM phones not sold by AT&T on our network. We can’t guarantee the performance of the device, of course.”
The company further stated that the customers using AT&T supplied phones can use them on other networks after unlocking. This policy is however not applicable on Apple iPhone.
