Syria seems to have blocked access to Facebook

Media reports are saying that the Syrian government has apparently blocked access to the popular social networking portal Facebook in the country.

Net users from Damascus have said that they are unable to access the service since some days now.

Media outlets have also confirmed that access to Facebook site in the country seems to be blocked.

There has been no official statement from the government but sources say that the ban could be to prevent Israeli users from infiltrating Syrian social networks.

Looks like after YouTube, it’s the turn of Facebook to face criticism from the governments around the world.
